Information
The Volunteer Tax Assistance Program (VTAP) is a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. VITA sites are supported by the Internal Revenue Service, and are located throughout the United States. VTAP is a student run service organization. Our main office is located at room 103A, Coffman Memorial Union at the University of Minnesota. VTAP works with student volunteers to offer free tax assistance to low to moderate-income individuals.VTAP was started in 2006, and has continued to grow each year. We have recently combined an existing Nonresident VITA site with the VTAP site to serve international students and other individuals with nonresident alien status in the U of M community, and offer tax service to Nonresident students. VTAP was honored by the University of Minnesota with the Tony Diggs Excellence Award, which recognized VTAP as a top student group at the University.
