The IWI: Institute For Feminist Policy Reform

OUR BEGINNINGInternational Women’s Initiative (IWI) was established as an independent charity in 2012 to carry out research, implement programme development, as well as publish and collect resources on women’s human rights throughout the world. In 2018, still using the acronym IWI, International Women’s Initiative became The IWI: Institute For Feminist Policy Reform in a radical transformation of the organisation from a programme based INGO, into a lobbying, policy change and advocacy oriented, women’s human rights think tank. IWI began to concentrate on responding to the needs of women and making direct analyses of institutionalised gender discrimination globally. Today, IWI is at the cutting edge of the research and analysis that inform the struggle for women’s human rights justice in the US, UK, Europe and internationally. It seeks to reflect the experiences of those who suffer oppression due to gender and draws its perspectives from the most vulnerable in society.OUR MISSIONThe IWI: Institute For Feminist Policy Reform is at the cutting edge of the research and analysis that inform the struggle for women’s human rights and justice internationally. IWI is a think tank which aims to better inform the process of political change as it relates to women’s human rights and deepen understanding of the complex contributing issues that affect it.OUR ETHOSIWI aims to advance women’s status through social science research, policy analysis, and education. We are committed to develop new policy ideas, encourage enlightened public debate, and promote sound policy and program development. Our work also helps to change minds and improve the practices of institutions. IWI operates on the principle that knowledge is power and that social science evidence based on strong data and analysis, compellingly presented and systematically disseminated, makes a difference in moving public policy.
