Shanghai Disabled Person's Federation

On September 25, 1986, the city held the inaugural meeting of the Disabled Persons' Federation, announcing the formal establishment of Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation, the first disabled persons' federation in China. Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation is the unified organization of the disabled in Shanghai. The following associations are established respectively for the blind, the deaf and the disabled Federation and three associations a group, four brands. The Federation is also responsible for the rehabilitation of the mentally disabled and the mentally ill and other social activities. In 1988, with the approval of the municipal government, Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation was designated as a unit at the deputy bureau level. In 1996, it was upgraded to a bureau-level organisational unit.
