About SCIL - Southwest Center For Independent Living

SCIL is a local nonprofit and disability resource center that has been providing services to people with disabilities in southwest Missouri for over 25 years. SCIL assists people of all ages and all types of disabilities to remain independent in the community and in their own home. Over half the staff and board also have disabilities themselves, giving them a unique perspective when providing services to others with disabilities.

SCIL provides personal advocacy and systemic advocacy at the government level and in the community and school setting to eliminate discrimination and increase accessibility for all people with disabilities, inclusive social and recreational activities, peer support, youth services, transition assistance out of nursing homes, and personal attendant care in the home.

SCIL serves the following counties: Christian, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster.
