The School of Physical Sciences at Dublin City University (DCU), established in 1980, has a rich history of academic excellence and innovation in the field of physics. Since graduating its first B.Sc. (Hons) class in 1985, the School has produced nearly 800 graduates at the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. levels, many of whom have gone on to make significant contributions in research, education, and various industries both nationally and internationally. The School prides itself on its commitment to meeting the scientific and career aspirations of its students, providing state-of-the-art classroom, laboratory, and IT facilities that foster a dynamic learning environment.

The School has garnered substantial external research funding, contributing to the establishment of two of DCU’s four National Research Centres—Plasma Science and Technology and Sensors—as well as the largest Science Foundation Ireland Centre, the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, led by esteemed faculty members.
