Safeway Jordan was founded in 1987 as a pioneer in retailing services. In 1991, Al-Masri family purchased the company. The success of the flagship store in Shmesani led to a rapid expansion throughout the country. In December 2003, Safeway Jordan operations were acquired by The Sultan Center (TSC) of Kuwait. Established in 1976 as a provider of hardware, tools, and supplies to the oil industry, TSC has expanded to become the premier retailer and leading supplier of supermarket items, perishables, and general merchandise in the Middle East. Today, Safeway operates a total of eleven service stores, two wholesale centers, and three Safeway Express convenience stores in Jordan. We are engaged in adding some more stores to our expanding portfolio.Safeway Jordan Still trading under the established Safeway brand name, sixteen stores are full-service operations. All stores are open seven days a week except JU Branch and offer a range of supermarket items, perishables, and general merchandise.As of customers need we have always provided a variety of exclusive products from different parts of the world. We expanded our international assortments and improved our existing products and service. We also insured serving our customers with seasonal and exclusive products on time. Value added products were introduced along to our extended offers in fresh departments (produce and meat departments). We have also added a home delivery service to provide a very helpful and useful service to insure our customer’s satisfaction. We have also remodeled and expanded our business in an effort to provide the best service to our customers.Due to the growing industry and the need to serve more areas around the country, we opened new stores in 2014, one in the northern city near Ramtha (Al Zatari Store) to serve Syrian refugees, and the second one in Marj Al Hamam Area. In 2015 we opened up two more stores, one in Khalda and the second one in Shafa Badran. In 2016 we opened the new location near the University Of Jordan front gate.
