People's Theatre Project

Rooted in Washington Heights & Inwood, People's Theatre Project creates ensemble-based theatre with and for immigrant communities to develop generations of socially-engaged artists and leaders. We believe that all people are artists and agents of change. We use ensemble-based theatre to continue a longstanding, cross-cultural tradition of fusing social justice and the arts. For us, theatre-making is an act of joyful resistance. People's Theatre Project’s core programs—the PTP Company, the PTP Academy, and PTP Partnerships—are designed to work together as an ongoing programmatic cycle. Together, PTP participants, artists, and audiences deepen their sense of power and strengthen their connection to community, reimagining and building a more equitable world.
