About MassMutual Advisors Association

The MassMutual Advisors Association is a representative group of MassMutual advisors who partner closely with the home office to advance and maintain the best interests of the agents, the policyowners, and MassMutual. Out of this relationship of deep trust and respect have come many innovations and projects over the years that have helped MassMutual become the leading Fortune 100 Company it is today.
The association – the oldest in the industry – was created in 1890 by Martin Van Buren Edgerly, MassMutual’s third president. As a former general agent, Edgerly knew that in order for the company to continue to grow and flourish, open and constructive communication between the home office and the field was critical. It is the oldest and finest organization of its kind in the industry. No other financial services company maintains such a vital and reciprocal relationship with its field constituents.
The Agents Association is governed by an executive committee, also known as the AAX, which includes the association’s president, vice president, secretary, immediate past president, transition officer and committee chairs. These field leaders oversee committees that concentrate on specific subject matter and typically focus on six to 12 issues annually.
