Make-A-Wish® Central And Western North Carolina

Make-A-Wish® Central and Western North Carolina grants upwards of 220 wishes per year to local children with life-threatening medical conditions. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve. Wishes don't just happen on their own. We're only able to create life-changing wish experiences with help from dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, and other supporters. Founded by Dr. Jerry Clark, Make-A-Wish® Central and Western North Carolina was chartered in 1985. We were originally called the Charlotte Clark Chapter in honor Dr. Clarks' first wife, whom he lost to cancer. We cover the state from Burlington (Alamance County) through the 51 counties to the west and maintain offices in Charlotte & Greensboro. Since the chapter's inception in 1985, more than 3,000 wishes have been granted and no eligible wish has ever been turned down. Currently, the average wish cost is $6,000.00 including in-kind donations. We rely solely on the generosity of the community to continue granting wishes of children in central and western North Carolina with life-threatening medical conditions.
