A breakthrough that would forever change the underlying technology of the global Internet and the economics of bringing Internet connectivity to the billions of people around the world with no access today. Critics said all-optical wavelength conversion was theoretical science. We proved them wrong. Critics now say building graphene-based semiconductors to one day disrupt the worldwide $330 billion dollar silicon-based microprocessor chip industry is theoretical science.
