The Evansville IceMen have been a fixture on the Evansville sports scene since 2008. The IceMen began play at Swander Ice Arena in Evansville, Indiana as part of the AAHL (All American Hockey League) and in their second year of active hockey delivered a title after winning the League's Davidson Cup. After spending one year in the IHL during 2010-2011 season the IceMen made the jump to the Central Hockey League (CHL) while also making their debut in Evansville's new downtown arena, The Ford Center, which holds up to 9,200 for hockey games and events. The IceMen earned 2nd place honors in the Turner Conference at the conclusion of the 2011-2012 CHL Regular Season. After continued growth both on and off the ice the IceMen made the jump to the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) prior to the 2012-2013 Season. The Ford Center is regarded by many in Minor League Hockey as one of the finest arenas. IceMen hockey is considered and has been voted as the number one sports and entertainment event to experience in the Tri-State Region.
