East Boston Social Centers

East Boston Social Centers is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit multi-service agency that has served the children, families, senior citizens and community of East Boston since it’s founding in 1918. At the core of the Social Centers is a commitment to meeting the needs of the East Boston community by providing high-quality services and support that empower this culturally diverse group of people to lead successful lives. The Social Centers’ four Early Learning Centers provide childcare to 145 children, ages 2 months to 6 years. These centers offer high quality childcare and are licensed by the Dept. of Early Education and Care (EEC) and accredited by the National Association of Educators of Young Children (NAEYC). The School Age Childcare program provides high quality and affordable after-school care to 150 children, ages 5 to 14 during the school year and approximately 300 children for Playschool day camp during the summer months. The School Age Child Care Program is licensed through EEC and was one of the first accredited School Age programs in the state of Massachusetts and part of the pilot national accreditation program. The program is accredited by the NAA – the National After School Association and uses programming based upon NAA Standards for Quality School Age Care. Boston Youth Network focuses on developing the strengths of 40 youth ages 11 to 17 from East Boston. The program includes academic assistance, prevention education, arts and multi-cultural activities, parent supports and a peer leadership program. The Social Centers’ Senior Programs include a Senior Services Nutritional site, and Senior Place, a social-recreational program for seniors that serves more than 150 men and women over the age of 60. In addition to those served by our programs, The Social Centers also provides community space for groups and individuals at its Central Square facility, which opens its doors to approximately an additional 35,000 people each year.
