Downeast Credit Union

Downeast Credit Union was founded in 1941 by employees of St. Croix Pulp and Paper Company. Since then, DECU has grown to over 20,000 members sharing the common bond with those who live, work, worship, attend school, or conduct business in Washington, Waldo, Hancock, Penobscot, Lincoln, Kennebec, Sagadahoc, and Knox Counties, and the towns of Brunswick and Harpswell in Cumberland County. Branch offices are located in Baileyville, Machias, Belfast, Unity, Bangor, Calais, Richmond, and Topsham. The DECU Family of Companies includes: CULANE, LLC who partners with 15 credit unions and 100 dealers offering convenient financing options; Downeast Insurance, LLC offering insurance for Home, Vehicles, Commercial, Workers Comp, Life and Disability with offices in Baileyville, Belfast, Calais, Machias, Richmond, Topsham, and Unity; and Bay Financial, LLC, offering vehicle service and guaranteed auto protection contracts. DECU was awarded the Best Places to Work in ME designation in 2017 and 2018.
