We work with South Australians to look after our great state. Our purpose is to help South Australians conserve, sustain and prosper. It’s a big role, and we need passionate people to help us achieve it. We work together to overcome big challenges. We manage water for the future, respond to climate change, connect people to nature, parks and places and sustain our state’s natural resources. We shape the future of South Australia. We are taking action on climate change. We are working with the Adelaide City Council to make Adelaide the world’s first carbon neutral city – a showcase for innovation in renewables and clean technology. We also manage water to ensure a reliable supply for our communities, industries and the environment now and into the future. We help keep the economy healthy. We care for South Australia’s natural resources that are essential to our state’s wealth and our community’s wellbeing. It is our clean environment that produces the premium food and wine that our state is known for – and contributes $18.2 billion per year to our economy. We help our environment stay healthy. We take a whole-of-landscape approach to conserving native species and vegetation, working with primary producers, land managers, conservationists, communities and all levels of government. We also protect South Australians and our environment from fire and flood. We connect people to nature. Our state’s unique environment provides places for adventure, exercise, peace, recreation, congregation and relaxation. We look after iconic sites including Cleland Wildlife Park, Seal Bay and Naracoorte Caves, part of the nature-based tourism industry that generates around $5.3 billion each year for South Australia. We partner with Aboriginal people to manage our parks – and with 356 parks, many close to Adelaide, our community and visitors enjoy these special places every year.At DEWNR, we truly believe we make a difference. Our people are passionate about what they do. Working together, we are tackling some big challenges to help care for South Australia now and into the future.
