There is a strong need for business leaders, not just IT staff, to become engaged in addressing cybersecurity. The latest news reports confirm this need. In June 2017, Fortune 500 magazine announced that CEOs identified cybersecurity as their biggest challenge and Forbes magazine announced 1 million job openings in cybersecurity on the business side (not just in IT). In addition, the Cyber Security Disclosure Act of 2017 requires responsibility in the Board room. Cyber Risk effects our businesses, our economy, our healthcare, our critical infrastructure, our workforce, our social system and even our political system. To address this accelerating problem, an interdisciplinary team of CISOs, executives, and business thought leaders at the Graziadio School of Business Pepperdine University are providing a Cyber Risk Professional (CyRP) Certification. This certification can be taken completely online, in a hybrid (part online and a one-day workshop) or completely on-ground. It is designed to help position businesses to proactively address cyber risk rather than just reacting to the latest crisis.CyRP is designed for business professionals and leaders regardless of technical background or the business verticals they work. Business leaders with this certification will be prepared to identify, evaluate, prepare for, and mitigate cyber security risk. CyRP is designed and taught by the same faculty who teach in Pepperdine’s globally recognized Executive MBA as well as CISOs from companies in Silicon Valley and professionals engaged in addressing cyber- security across the US. Students will interact with these executives, faculty, and professionals in cyber risk as well as build their network in this critical area.
