In 1999, a Kansas farm kid named Rick Malir teamed up with a competition barbeque team, quit his day job, bought an old donut shop, and opened the first City Barbeque. Today we own and operate 42 restaurants in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina, Michigan and Georgia, and we’re looking at new markets all the time.Every day, at every restaurant, our teams slow-smoke award-winning barbeque and craft homemade sides and desserts from scratch. Our food has been honored by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (American Royal Invitational World Champion Brisket), Restaurant Hospitality magazine (“More Cowbell,” named one of the country’s best sandwiches), the National Turkey Federation (Turkey on the Menu, Fast Casual category), and by local publications in every market we serve.We also offer personalized, affordable, award-winning catering. We’re so proud to cater folks’ special moments, and our experience can’t be matched: we cater more than 1,000 weddings each year!
