Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Wales, developed from the Boys' Club Movement, is one of the oldest youth organisations in Wales. Formed in the early 1920's its links with the community were embedded in its relationships with the miners of Wales who made significant contribution to its development - through regular weekly payments to support local initiative and as a contribution to the setting up of the Boys' Village in St Athan. The mining community also produced many of the youth workers at the time who were well aware of the needs of young people of their community.
