Western Bay Of Plenty District Council

The Western Bay of Plenty is one of the fastest growing District's in New Zealand, with a population of more than 45,400 people. This is estimated to reach 60,268 by 2026. Our stunning District covers 212,000 hectares of coastal, rural and urban areas. It's renowned as the largest provider of kiwifruit and avocados in New Zealand while also having thriving small towns such as Katikati - famous for its murals - and Omokoroa, a fast growing seaside community. We're an award winning Council with a lot to offer residents, and staff. Our focus is to work in partnership with our diverse communities and stakeholders. Western Bay of Plenty District Council is made up of two parts that work together for the benefit of the District. The first part is ‘the Council’ – made up of one Mayor and 11 councillors. They make decisions, on behalf of the ratepayers, to meet the needs of the entire District. The second part is the organisation - consisting of staff who provide the services and the facilities/projects - which deliver on the Council’s decisions.
