About Washington Hyperloop

Hyperloop is a conceptual high-speed transportation system put forward by entrepreneur Elon Musk, incorporating partially evacuated tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by linear induction motors and air compressors.

Early summer of 2015, SpaceX revealed that they would host a yearly Hyperloop pod competition to see who could design, build, and test the best pod. We placed 6th in the world and 4th among US teams in Competition 1, out of 1,200 teams that entered the first SpaceX Hyperloop competition.

As the next competition weekend in late August 2017 (Competition 2) will be judged completely based off of speed, it is essential that our team continues to build our pod sustainably with budget and quality in mind as we improve our design to be the fastest pod on the track at SpaceX.
