The Video Genome Project (VGP) believes that the world's data should be accessible for all to use. This accessibility has been exploited in many industries, but video content has yet to take full advantage of data structuring for better tools and analysis. VGP creates this solution. VGP technology discovers, ingests, refines and understands the component data and metadata elements of over 8 million professionally-produced film, television and online video records resulting in the largest, broadest and most granular structured database of video content in the industry. The technology then assigns hundreds of contextual attributes to each professionally produced video on a granular level, developing a clear and comprehensive picture of each piece of video content, from the inside out. The underlying data structuring technology have massive implications not only for video content curation tools (search, recommendation, and personalization), but also for developers, publishers, content providers, marketers, and users all over the world who utilize any form of video content. Additionally, the VGP’s Insights Division provides analytic tools on top of its structured databases so that its advertisers, agencies and content providers can glean actionable insights relating to video content that are used to drive business decisions.
