The ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation was founded by America's neurosurgeons in an effort to decrease the leading cause of death and disability among children, teens and young adults: traumatic injury. Our mission is to prevent brain, spinal cord and other traumatic injury through education, research and advocacy. ThinkFirst provides educational injury prevention presentations and curricula for students of all ages. Programs are presented by health educators and VIP speakers (Voices for Injury Prevention) who share their personal experiences of a decision that led to a brain or spinal cord injury. ThinkFirst's dynamic, inter-active, evidence-based programs help students understand the importance of making safe choices related to vehicle safety, sports safety, violence prevention and preventing falls. ThinkFirst also has programs on preventing falls in older adults and adults at risk for falls, and a concussion recognition and prevention program. Chapters are generally hospital based and are located throughout the United States and internationally.
