The Van Tharp Institute

Through years of application, Trading Coach Dr. Van Tharp’s work has resulted in the holistic Trading Excellence Model, a map of sorts that helps traders understand the territory and figure out a path to their desired destination. The model encompasses critical competencies and best practices for successful trading. People who want to trade better will need to understand each of the areas in the model at a basic level first. As they progress, they will revisit each area integrating more information, more insights, and more skills from the other areas depicted around the model. The model is circular to represent the iterative nature of effective trader development. Each trader has a different entry point and may work across the areas in a different sequence to achieve trading competency. Over time, top traders develop not just within each area, but acquire the ability to integrate concepts and practices across the areas.
