About Target Zero

Target Zero (TZ) is a nonprofit organization that mentors proven best practices to shelter and animal welfare leaders, city by city, to get them to zero-kill of all adoptable shelter animals. 3 million cats and dogs are currently euthanized in shelters across the US each year due to overcrowding. TZ launched in 2013 and has gotten three of its first ten "Fellow Cities" -- Waco, Texas // Huntsville, Alabama // Brevard County, Florida -- to no-kill as of early 2016 (Waco began at a 64% kill rate). Each Fellow receives up to three years of holistic, hands-on training at no charge. They are then empowered to help "pay it forward" to neighboring cities and communities. For a more in-depth understanding of how we work, how to apply to the program and Fellow City results to date, please go to target-zero.org.
