About Snowdrop Project

The Snowdrop Project is the first charity in the UK to provide long-term, community support for survivors of human trafficking. We work with our clients on an individual basis to ensure their needs, which are often complex, are met.

Currently survivors of human trafficking can access government support, which consists of 45 days of support in safe-house accommodation. Although this immediate care is essential, we strongly believe that support should not cease after 45 days and that recovery from human trafficking is a long-term process.

From her experience of working in a safe house our founder saw that tragically, upon leaving a safe house, survivors often experienced multiple significant barriers to making a fresh start such as: a lack of community, difficulty accessing employment or education, separation from family, on-going police investigations, debt problems, limited English and exacerbated mental health issues. Without support people were vulnerable to homelessness, isolation, substance misuse, abusive relationships, depression and further exploitation. Some survivors simply went missing.

Snowdrop Project provides long-term, community support and empowers survivors of human trafficking. We achieve this through one-to-one casework, befriending, community activities, house renovations and specialist trauma therapy.
