Scottish Sports Futures

Scottish Sports Futures (SSF) is a charity committed to enhancing the lives of young people in Scotland. Our projects provide young people in deprived areas in Scotland with opportunities that will encourage them towards achieving their ambitions and reaching their full potential. We are funded by the Scottish Governments Cashback initiative. Jump2it, initiative uses Glasgow Rocks professional players as role models, they go into schools talk about smoking, nutrition and physical fitness to the children, while providing an introduction to basketball. Schools also take part in a basketball tournament, with the final played on the Rocks’ court in Glasgow. We work with 130 schools with the aim over the next 3 years to increase to 175. Shell Twilight works with disadvantaged children with areas of social depravation. Children from the age of 11-21 work with our youth workers & sport coaches on Friday evenings, the sessions are free to all. Active East is a new and exciting programme which aims to build a legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Delivered through innovative partnerships that bring local youth work organisations & sports/physical activity clubs together to maximise the impact of existing community resources. The aims of the programs are; Encourage 11-21 year olds to avoid, alcohol, drugs & crime Increase self esteem, team work & social skills Increase knowledge & awareness of how diet and fitness can change lives.
