Shabo is one of the oldest wine-growing regions of Ukraine, with ideal soils and climate between the Dniester estuary and the Black Sea, on the same wine latitude as Burgundy. At one time, the wealth and prospects of the local lands were appreciated by the Swiss winemakers from Canton Vaud. In 1822, Swiss settlers moved to what is a modern day Shabo, to live and make wines. Thus, creating the first and only fully autonomous Swiss winemaking in the world. They laid down the foundation for top level viticulture and world leading wines.
