Putnam County Schools is one of the top public school districts in the state of West Virginia, serving students in grades Pre-K through 12. Putnam County Schools is led by Superintendent John Hudson and a five-member elected Board of Education and is dedicated to academic achievement for all students.

Putnam County Schools is home to 23 schools including four National Blue-Ribbon Schools, 17 West Virginia Schools of Excellence, one National Title I Distinguished School, and one Premier Career and Technical Center.
