PlasmaTech is a spin-off company of the University of Pisa established in 2011.
The company was developed by the scientific group “Intense laser fields and collective
effects in plasmas” run by Professor F.Giammanco in the Department of Physics. Born to
develop diagnostics systems and models for plasmas, PlasmaTech was then focused on
nanoparticle production by laser ablation where plasma expertise was beneficially
applied.
Metallic nanoparticles, e.g. Au, Ag, Pd, Ti, Fe, Si of controlled size are currently
produced either bare in pure solvents or capped by different stabilizers.
Thanks to a long-term partnership with the groups led by Dr.Emilia Giorgetti at the
Inst.of Complex Systems on National Research Council (ISC-CNR) and by Dr.Maurizio
Muniz at the Chemistry Dpt. of University of Florence, the catalog of available products
has been enriched by nanostructures, i.e. chemically synthetized nanostars, nanocages
and nanoprisms, and by SERS active platforms. Besides, we produce bifunctional
nanoparticles (bimetallic or metal/ceramic) by laser assisted galvanic replacement.
