Our mission is to assist Veterans and their families to be self-sustaining and better connected to the community. We provide a wide range of supportive services for honorably discharged Veterans and their families throughout Tennessee – all at no cost to them. We have 2 locations - Nashville. A highlight of our 2016 COMMUNITY IMPACT: Because of your generous support in 2016, here's how OSDTN was able to impact Veterans and their families in our community. - 2,104 men and women Veterans received services in our Veteran Service Center - 86 cents of every dollar donated went directly to serving Veterans - 955 Volunteers contributed 6,026 hours at our Veteran Service Center - this is equivalent to having more than two extra full-time staff members - 140 Veterans found or upgraded their employment through our Employment Department with an economic impact of about $7 million for Middle Tennessee - 73% - Nine-Month Employment Retention Rate - 560 Veterans received 3,115 free clothing items valued at thrift store prices of $17,934 - 108 men and women Veterans went through our Transitional Housing Program, 66% left successfully - 820 Veterans and their families were assisted filing disability claims and 13 surviving spouses were assisted filing for their benefits - Three Stand Down Outreach Events were held assisting 511 men and women Veterans - 251 Veterans and their families received financial assistance to either move from being homeless into permanent housing or to remain in their homes
