Massimo De Carlo gallery was founded in Milan in 1987: for the last 30 years the gallery has been playing an important role in the global art world by introducing Italian artists to European and American audiences and international artists to Italy, also helping to establish a vital dialogue between artists and institutions. In 2009 Massimo De Carlo opened his first space in central London, where as well as working with the historically represented artists, he focuses on emerging American artists. In March 2016 Massimo De Carlo inaugurated his gallery in the Pedder Building in Central Hong Kong. After many years of operating on the Asian territory -including an on-going role on the selection committee board of Art Basel Hong Kong- Massimo De Carlo started this new adventure aiming to become part of its developing contemporary cultural landscape. In April 2016 Massimo De Carlo opened his second venue in Milan, situated in Palazzo Belgioioso in the historical centre of Milan, in the homonymous elegant piazza, a corner of archetypal neoclassical Milanese architecture not far from Piazza del Duomo. The space is run alongside the converted warehouse in Lambrate, Milan, which remains the headquarter of the gallery. Massimo De Carlo gallery works with several artists active in different media as painting, drawing, installation, sculpture, photography and video. The artists of the gallery have all gained international recognition and have been shown in renowned galleries, museums, biennials and they are represented in important private and public collections.
