Our mission is • To provide specialized rehabilitation and collaborative healthcare solutions that enhance the independence, productivity, and dignity of children and adults who are blind or visually impaired.
Lighthouse of Broward was formed in 1973, incorporated in 1974 -- over 40 years of continuous operation providing training, socialization, support and recreational activities to blind and visually impaired people. The Lighthouse remains Broward’s only agency singularly focused on rehabilitation and training for individuals who are born blind or experience vision loss as a result of pre-mature birth, injury, accident, illness, or the aging process, from birth through senior citizens. A full range of educational and rehabilitation services is provided year round for blind/visually impaired babies, children, teens, working age adults and seniors. Since 2008, LHOB has served an annual average of 1,500 clients of all ages.
