LLA Instruments develops and produces sensor system solutions using different spectroscopic methods such as infrared, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and laser breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). These sensor systems are used for material identification and real-time quality control in industrial processes.
Hyperspectral cameras (HSI), mainly integrated in machines for automated recycling, are used for sorting plastics, paper or even rocks.
An example for industrial quality control is the detection of nuts and nutshells (interfering material), which have to be sorted out in the sorting process.
XRF sensor systems are used for metal sorting, including in the recycling process. For LIBS applications, high-resolution echelle spectrometers are available.
Sensor systems from LLA Instruments are exceptionally good in terms of detection rates and high measurement speed. They are also used on very wide conveyor belts up to 2.8 m, which allows a very high throughput. The industrial-grade design enables use under harsh environmental conditions.
