The Purigate™ system is the initial market offering of Ivaldi LLC, organized in 2008. This patented system (US Patents 8,061,565 & 8,152,027) builds the functionality of a hand sanitizer dispenser onto a hospital door latch. As a result, access to patient treatment areas is limited to individuals who have sanitized their hands. This system will be marketed to hospitals and other healthcare providers, with secondary markets in child care, education, food service, and homeland security. The primary, healthcare, market segment is currently suffering from a serious problem with hospital acquired infections. The simplest way to prevent infections is hand hygiene, but CDC studies show that as many as half of healthcare workers do not follow proper hand washing procedures. The Purigate system builds hand hygiene into the healthcare infrastructure, changing the default behavior to proper hand hygiene.
