Our Vision is Healthy people – now and into the future. HNELHD covers a region of 131,785 square kilometres and provides services to a population of almost 874,000 people. It is the only district in New South Wales with a major metropolitan centre, a mix of several large regional centres and many smaller rural centres and remote communities within its borders. We provide a range of public health services to the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast regions with 27 including The John Hunter Hospital, and John Hunter Children’s Hospital located in Newcastle.
