HVTC

HVTC is Australia's oldest Group Training Organisation and has employed and trained more than 20,000 people since 1981. We currently provide jobs and training to around 1000 people a year through 10 offices throughout NSW in the Hunter, Sydney, Illawarra, Northern Rivers, North Coast, Mid Coast, North West, Shoalhaven and Southern Tablelands. Our Group Training provides apprenticeships and traineeships for traditional trades as well as a range of business and community services. HVTC is different to many other training providers because it has a specialised Skills Centre and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) at Rutherford in NSW which provides training for apprentices and trainees and other specialised business training. This training complements other training to ensure our apprentices, trainees and business clients get the very best training to meet their needs. Our experience, local expert staff, mentoring and high staff to student ratios is why HVTC apprentices and trainees are job ready and have much higher completion rates than the industry average. HVTC has an Indigenous Employment Strategy and welcomes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander apprentices and trainees. HVTC was incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation on June 18, 1981. The first of its kind in Australia, HVTC was created by the NSW Government in partnership with industry and unions to provide a new approach to apprentice training. Its initial brief was to train apprentices to provide local tradespeople to work on the Bayswater Power Station.
