Fundacja DKMS is an international nonprofit orgianisation where compassion, creativity, initiative, collaboration and strategic thinking are rewarded as we work together to expand our reach, recruit more bone marrow donors and help save more lives. Every 60 minutes a person is diagnosed with leukemia in Poland. Many of those patients can't find their matching donor. In order to achieve a decisive improvement here and to expand the donor data available worldwide as well, Fundacja DKMS was founded in 2008. We as orgianisation belief that people everywhere can play an active role in saving the lives of others with blood cancers and blood and bone marrow disorders, our mission is to grow the number of suitable bone marrow and blood stem cell donors for patients in need of a transplant. To find a suitable donor for each patient, especially that around 25% patients in Poland don't find matching donor. In Poland there is 1 000 000 potential bone marrow donors, while in Germany our neighbor more than 4,5 million. Our goal is to improve the patients situation in Poland as well as improve the all worldwide system. Fundacja DKMS is comprised of nearly 100 passionate employees and thousands of volunteers who work tirelessly toward a common goal of facilitating successful donations. Many of our employees have personally seen the urgent need for a vast and diverse donor registry, giving the organization an unmatched level of energy, creativity and dedication. DKMS is part of the world’s largest network of bone marrow donor centers, having registered more than 6 million people. Currently, nearly 56,000 those have gone on to donate to a patient.
