The origin of ECUAQUÍMICA goes back to 1865, in Guayaquil, when a Swiss businessman began a project that with the time would become one of the most important and prosperous companies in the country: MAX MÜLLER and Co., pioneer of the great trade in Ecuador. With Ecuadorian-Swiss capital, he was devoted to the import and distribution of products for: agro chemistry, drugstores, hardware, for the construction, for the automobile maintenance, import of solvents and representations of fabrics, clocks and similes. Given the complexity in the handling of so many products with their different distribution systems and facing the necessity of attending the growing Ecuadorian market of the time impelled by the oil boom; and, after more than 100 years of commercial activity, in 1970, MAX MÜLLER liquidated to be divided in new companies specialized in areas that would manage separately their activities with more professionalism. Today they are part of the Swiss group.
