A leading production house in the mainstream Indian film entertainment industry. The house was founded in 1976 by the Late Sri Yash Johar with 'Dostana'​, starring superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Today, Dharma is led by his son, Karan Johar. Karan's own debut film, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'​ (1997), was one of the biggest hits of its times. Karan’s next few ventures cemented our reputation as the house for films with heart-warming stories, grandeur in production and megastar casts. Dharma was amongst the first to tap uncharted territory for Indian films - marking a special place for them in International markets and establishing Bollywood's presence overseas. In the following years, Dharma Productions has launched 13 directors and rising stars like Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan. In 2011, Times of India report listed Dharma Productions as India’s leading and most powerful production house. The company went on to give a series of commercially successful and critically acclaimed films, making a mark with, both small films like Wake Up Sid (2012), as well as big productions like Agneepath (2012). 2014 has been a particularly special year for Dharma Productions with three back-to-back romantic films, all of them hits. Projects in the coming years with superstars like Salman Khan have also been announced. Dharma has earned tremendous amount of goodwill among fans and partners and is constantly aiming at setting new standards.
