Using outdoor adventure sports like paddling, camping, cycling, hiking, and rock climbing, Chicago Adventure Therapy (CAT) works with Chicago children, youth, and young adults to have a lasting positive impact on their communities and become healthy adults by teaching effective social skills and strong leadership skills, increasing participants’ sense of possibility, and fostering a sense of empowerment and personal responsibility.
Programming Areas
Chicago Adventure Therapy currently offers programs for children, youth, young adults, and families. Often this happens through a partnership with other nonprofit agencies but individuals and families are also welcome.
Core Programming
We work with other youth-serving agencies across Chicago to offer transformative outdoor adventures.
Family Adventures
We offer free Family Adventures for families in marginalized communities.
Community Festivals
We take the Adventure to the Community. We go to parks, block parties, etc and bring gear – people can try it out, ask questions…
Adventure Communities
Any CAT participants and alumni can join our adventure communities. Current and former participants join local enthusiasts and coaches to learn more about the sport and do life together.
After School Programming
We provide on-site outdoor education, nature reflections, and outdoor skill-building.
