Business in the Community (BITC) is the Prince’s Responsible Business Network. We are a business-led charity with more than 30 years’ experience of mobilising business to positive social, environmental and economic change. We at BITC Scotland - together with our colleagues in England, Northern Ireland and Wales - engage thousands of businesses through our programmes driven by a core membership of over 800 organisations from small enterprises to global corporations. Our members work together to tackle a wide range of issues that are essential to creating a fairer society and a more sustainable future through responsible business practices. Responsible business in about how a business makes its money, not just about how it spends it profits. It is about managing growth responsibly whilst reducing dependency on natural resources and how businesses operate as an employer, supplier and customer. It is also about how, as a neighbour, business can help to create vibrant communities where people can flourish. With the encouragement of strong leadership, we are proving responsible business can be a force for positive change – and that tackling social and environmental issues can return financial value. We structure our activities under five main categories: Education, Employment, Environment, Employees and Enterprise.
