About Azeeza
Azeeza Khan was born and raised in Chicago, IL and spent high school summers traveling to India to learn garment construction and hand embroidery one on one with an English-fluent tailor who specialized in Western design. Khan later graduated from DePaul University in Chicago where she studied Political Science and Marketing.
In 2012, Azeeza set forth into design with the release of SS13 under the name Atelier Azza. The collection began predominately in what has defined her signature; woven metals, faceted crystal and semi-precious stone beading on vivid fine textiles in statement-making silhouettes. Later that year the new label was nominated for Fashion Group International's “Rising Star Award”.
The following year the collection evolved to include a full line of ready-to-wear and accessories and was shown for the first time on the runway during New York Fashion Week. Vogue India went on to recognize Azeeza as a “Rising Star Designer". Khan also opened her first retail concept on Chicago's Magnificent Mile making her the only local designer presence in the luxury retail district. The retail post was nominated by TimeOut and Racked as "Best New Store" of 2013 and hailed as a "top Chicago destination" by Forbes Travel.
Azeeza's home town of Chicago provided sustainability to the self-invested, private brand. Local celebrities and socialites soon commissioned custom pieces from Khan's in-home studio. Organic media support followed, with CS Magazine labeling the brand as an “overnight success”.
With a focus on quality and differentiation, Khan continues to incorporate design lessons of her youth and experimentation to develop embellishment techniques lending to a distinct and recognizable aesthetic.
In 2014, launching under the designer's first name, a second Azeeza flagship will open located in New York City and will for the first time become available at select luxury retailers.
