In 1951, Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) became Travis County’s first nonprofit organization solely dedicated to children’s mental health. The mission is to provide accessible, high-quality mental health services to children and their families to empower them to thrive in childhood and beyond. ACGC’s services are integrated and individualized to meet each client’s needs. A multidisciplinary team of a psychiatrist, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and family therapists supports clients through individual, family, and group therapy; psychological assessments; psychiatric evaluations; and parent education. Presentations and consultation are offered to a variety of collaborations, partners, and individuals throughout the community, in addition to training for graduate student interns from mental health disciplines every year.
