About After 5 Intern Program

We know that an essential ingredient in positioning Michigan for success in a knowledge-driven economy is creating places where talent – particularly young mobile talent – wants to live.

We also know that college graduates will decide where to live based on job opportunities and lifestyle. Over five years ago, After 5 launched the unique and innovative After 5 Intern Program aimed at retaining young talent in Detroit.

By participating in the program, employers are able to introduce their new workers to Detroit's dynamic lifestyle and allow them the opportunity to meet hundreds of others their age, have fun, do some networking and begin to form bonds that will hopefully convince them that their future is in Detroit.

Over the past six summers, we've hosted close to 13,000 interns, sponsored by numerous employers, and with an overwhelming response from both participants and employers, we have grown and expanded the program to make it even bigger and better each year!
