ARCAmazon aims to discover and share the value of the rainforest and to inspire the global community to get involved in front-line conservation of the Amazon rainforest.
The Alliance is currently working to protect a strategic corridor of forest in Peru's Las Piedras River watershed. The aim is to help prevent the expansion of unsustainable agriculture and logging from reaching the primary forests of the upper Las Piedras and indigenous tribes living in voluntary isolation in the Purus area.
ARCAmazon protects an 11,000 acre reserve of highly threatened forest in Las Piedras through sustainable business and community participation. Visits to the conservation area can be arranged through the Las Piedras Amazon Center, a remote eco-camp owned and managed by ARCAmazon.
Amazon Academy facilitates learning experiences for tomorrow's scientists and conservationists, while promoting the rainforest through adventure programs and the sharing of nature-inspired information, media and art.
