The Australian Performing Arts Teachers Association [APATA] is the national peak body representing and supporting teachers, educators, and industry practitioners working and creating in performing arts education.
Our sole purpose is to represent all disciplines in the performing arts to lead best practice in education and to build the capability of Australian and New Zealand performing communities by providing leadership, advocacy and connection for the benefit of education in arts, culture and performance. We connect teachers and educators with industry and leading experts across a multitude of experiences, knowledge and professional development.
Our vision is that performing arts education is the foundation that builds and nurtures skills and talents in the performing arts, connects emerging artists and skilled arts workers, develops future audiences and contributes towards a robust and sustainable performing arts industry. Performing arts education starts in schools and studios across the nation teaching and developing skills, capability and connection.
Nurtured skills and talents across all disciplines of the performing arts are explored in education supporting the next generation’s journey, knowledge and interests for roles in front or behind the curtain, in purpose-built theatres and arenas to touring and outdoor applications. The heart of the performing arts industry is introduced and explored by students with teachers.
