Chee Chua

Chee Tee Chua currently serves as a Senior Manager at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology (SMART) Centre, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing semiconductor research and development initiatives. His expertise lies in the strategic planning, start-up, and operational management of cutting-edge silicon and III-V compound semiconductor laboratories, with a particular focus on 200mm wafer processing environments. Chee Tee’s comprehensive understanding of cleanroom management, safety compliance, and regulatory licensing ensures that laboratory operations adhere to the highest standards of safety and environmental sustainability. His proficiency in MOCVD tool uptime optimization, chemical and hazardous waste management, and air emissions control underscores his commitment to safe and environmentally responsible research practices.

In his current role, Chee Tee leads key projects involving the integration of semiconductor tools and facilities, including the design and planning of state-of-the-art wafer processing labs. He has spearheaded the evaluation, procurement, and commissioning of advanced equipment such as MOCVD (Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) systems, PECVD, and ICP tools, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure. His expertise extends to vendor evaluation, procurement negotiations, and project management for M&E services, which are critical for maintaining high tool uptime and operational efficiency.

With a strong foundation in materials science, failure analysis, and design of experiments (DOE), Chee Tee applies rigorous risk management and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) methodologies to optimize laboratory performance. His leadership in facility management and start-up operations fosters innovative research environments that support the development of next-generation semiconductor devices, positioning SMART Centre at the forefront of global semiconductor research and innovation.
