Cailey Hippe

As a Resource Technician Intern at Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Cailey Hippe is deeply immersed in the practical applications of her academic background in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences from Oregon State University, where she specializes in Conservation Biology. Under the mentorship of Blake McCann, Cailey is actively involved in a variety of key projects that highlight her commitment to wildlife conservation and management. One of her primary responsibilities includes elk tracking using advanced radio telemetry techniques, which not only aids in understanding elk behavior but also contributes to effective population management strategies within the park.

In addition to elk tracking, Cailey plays a crucial role in a bison dart biopsy project, collaborating with a team to gather essential data that informs conservation efforts for this iconic species. Her work extends to a partnership with graduate students from Colorado State University on a pioneering feral horse contraceptive study, which aims to address population control in a humane and ecologically responsible manner. This multifaceted experience allows her to apply her skills in animal care and conservation biology while gaining hands-on knowledge in telemetry and wildlife management.

Cailey's proficiency in scuba diving and marine species identification, coupled with her strong foundation in environmental science, positions her as a valuable asset to the National Park Service.
