Brian Benator

Brian Benator currently serves as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, where he has quickly established a reputation as a dynamic leader and passionate mentor. With over a decade of experience in intercollegiate athletics, Brian brings a wealth of expertise in basketball coaching, team management, and sports leadership. His strategic approach to player development and game strategy has been instrumental in elevating the program’s competitive standing, evidenced by a remarkable 8-win improvement from his first to second year—raising the team’s record from 9-18 to 17-10. Under his guidance, the team reached the 2024 SCISA 4A State Tournament Semifinals and advanced to the Elite 8 in 2025, showcasing his ability to foster team resilience and competitive excellence.

Brian’s commitment to developing student-athletes extends beyond the court. He has successfully cultivated talent, resulting in three 2025 SCISA 4A Region 1 All-Region selections and an Honorable Mention, as well as a standout player named to the 2024 SCISA 4A All-Region team. His expertise in recruiting, sports management, and event planning complements his coaching, enabling him to create engaging team-building activities and community outreach initiatives that enhance team cohesion and school spirit.

A recognized leader among his peers, Brian was one of only eleven assistant coaches selected to attend the inaugural 2019 Jay Bilas Skills Academy: Coaches Leadership Program. His infectious personality, combined with his dedication to relationship building and athlete development, makes him a vital contributor to Heathwood Hall’s athletic and overall school community. Through his leadership, Brian continues to inspire growth, resilience, and excellence in his student-athletes.
