Blake Dorame

Blake Dorame currently serves as a Research Aide in the Catalysis and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Lab at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. In this role, Blake plays a vital part in advancing cutting-edge research focused on the synthesis and characterization of water-splitting photocatalytic materials. His work involves meticulous analysis of material quality and physical/chemical reactivity, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques such as Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), STEM-EDS, X-ray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectroscopy, and Gas Chromatography. These methods enable Blake to gain detailed insights into nanoparticle morphology, crystal structure, and catalytic efficiency, which are critical for optimizing photocatalyst performance.

Blake’s expertise extends to developing and refining experimental protocols, particularly in identifying reaction parameters essential for accurate apparent quantum yield (AQY) testing systems. His proficiency with advanced analytical tools and software like Origin and MATLAB allows him to interpret complex datasets, ensuring precise characterization of materials. His hands-on experience with nanoparticle synthesis, organic thin film fabrication via physical vapor deposition (PVD), and vacuum system maintenance underscores his comprehensive skill set in materials science and nanotechnology.
