Auslan Left

Auslan Stage Left is a leading organization dedicated to enhancing accessibility in the performing arts through high-quality Auslan interpreted theatre. As a Theatre Interpreter with Auslan Stage Left, I play a vital role in bridging the gap between Deaf audiences and live performances, ensuring that theatre is inclusive and engaging for all. Our organization is committed to providing accessible cultural experiences by delivering professional Auslan interpreting services for a diverse range of productions, from contemporary plays to classical performances.

Currently, Auslan Stage Left is involved in several key projects, including collaborations with major theatre companies and community arts initiatives, aimed at expanding access and raising awareness about Deaf culture. We also offer comprehensive training programs for interpreters and Deaf consultants, focusing on theatre interpreting techniques, cultural competency, and the nuances of live performance interpretation. This ensures our interpreters are equipped with industry-specific skills such as real-time translation, spatial awareness, and the ability to adapt to various theatrical styles.

In my role, I utilize skills in event management, social media marketing, and video production to promote accessible performances and advocate for Deaf inclusion in the arts. I also contribute to content creation through Photoshop and other digital tools, helping to develop engaging promotional materials. Public speaking and customer service are essential in liaising with theatre staff, interpreters, and audiences to ensure seamless, respectful, and impactful interpreted performances. Overall, Auslan Stage Left’s work is vital in fostering a more inclusive arts landscape, and I am proud to be part of an organization that champions accessibility, cultural diversity, and artistic excellence.
